Nobody’s Watching The All-Star Game?
By Bruce Tenen - Sat, 2011-07-16 07:00
Baseball's 82nd annual All-Star Game received an overnight rating of 7.9, its lowest ever according to Sports Business Daily. Average viewership declined to 11 million fans, about one-third of what the game garnered during the 1980s.
For the fifth straight year, the All-Stars had their highest national ratings in St. Louis, with Philadelphia second.
FOX blamed the low ratings on the absence of sixteen major stars, led by Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees.
Or, is it a general lack of interest in the onetime national pastime?
