Tweeting OK During London Games

2012 London OlympicsLast week, the International Olympic Committee announced that all competing athletes in the London 2012 Olympics (more than 7,000) would be free to post personal messages and photographs via Twitter and organizers are expecting an explosion of tweets.

Now, the British Olympic Association has strongly suggested that English athletes not use illiterate messages, but rather employ correct spelling and grammar at the London Olympics. The BOA has concerns about poorly spelled and punctuated messages, which will set bad examples for British youth.

The BOA is further concerned that the athletes won't be good role models for young fans and is issuing a guidebook called "Social Media Guidelines" to be distributed to competitors in the various Olympic sports.
