Forget His Policy: We Just Want to Know What He Had for Lunch
The Obamas' ten-day stay at Martha's Vinyard may be over, but the First Family looked like they were still in vacay mode when they stopped in at the Parkway Bakery & Tavern during their visit to New Orleans today:
As usual, POTUS was criticized throughout his Martha's Vinyard visit for enjoying all those elitist, upper-crusty-summering-on-the-Cape activities (i.e. golfing, dining, bicycling, beachcombing, and browsing the local bookstore) while the fate of our country continued to hang in the balance. (When we say "as usual", we mean this has been the case for decades, no matter who's in office. The fact that the opposing party can always be counted on to portray a vacationing Commander In Chief as the height of hypocrisy is just politics...as usual).
Regardless of your party affiliation, though, you have to admire the first couple's transparency when it comes to what they eat. Obama Foodorama reports that the president ordered a Gulf Shrimp Po' Boy today in New Orleans., and the first family's restaurant and food purchases throughout their 2010 Martha's Vinyard visit are already a matter of record. And while we might have a bone or two to pick with the Commander in Chief when it comes to bank bailouts or the White Sox, after reading about all the great grub they've ordered, it's hard not to feel like he and Michele could be our total foodie soulmates.
Of course, summer's over now, which means it's back to the serious stuff for President Obama. But it must have been nice while it lasted:
