Bart Scott Sides With Deon Grant In Injury Fake Debate

Bart Scott on Deon Grant fake injuryNew York Giants safety Deon Grant has been the subject of controversy regarding his alleged "faking" of an injury Monday night against the St. Louis Rams. QB Sam Bradford was leading the Rams down the field, while employing a no-huddle offense. In an effort to slow down the Rams’ momentum, Grant “fell” to the ground, causing officials to stop play for an injury timeout. Despite Grant’s claim of innocence, the NFL has since issued an edict, warning teams of the consequences of faking injuries during the course of a game.

While many observers believe a stunt of this nature is cheap and void of integrity, some folks on the defensive side of the ball have a different take on the subject. Not surprisingly, outspoken New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott weighed in on the side of the tacklers while appearing on ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption” Wednesday.

“That’s part of the business, that’s been going on for years. It’s a tool you use when you got great quarterbacks like (Tom) Brady and Peyton Manning that use that when you try to catch them in a substitution and get a free play,” said Scott.

Added the always witty linebacker, "Every once in a while, your hammy might get a little tight.”
