Derek Jeter’s approach to maintaining his unparalleled coolness

New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter has built as rock solid of an image as any athlete in sports.  The five-time world champion has accomplished this feat despite being recognized as one of the great playboys of the Western world.

Jeter has been romantically linked to numerous celebrities through the years. The list includes: Mariah Carey, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Alba, Gabrielle Union, Jessica Biel, Vanessa Minnillo and Minka Kelly

Jeter has successfully maintained his epic stature through his clutch play on the field and his decision not to get married during his playing career. Instead of dealing with accusations of infidelity, like teammate Alex Rodriguez, Jeter’s GQ status has continued to grow because he always seems to know how to handle his business on and off the field.

The below video displays a prime example of Jeter’s approach to exhibiting this public persona.  The setting was a Chicago street, during a Yankees series vs. the White Sox.  Jeter appears uninterested in signing autographs for adult seekers, but makes sure to take the time to please a younger fan.  By doing this, Jeter makes the most important seeker happy, while not offending everyone else because no one can complain when a child is singled out.

Every athlete should take a PR lesson from the Yankee captain.
