49ers & Giants Bringing Back Some Memories By The Bay
By Ryan Rapoport - Sun, 2011-11-13 05:21
Sunday in San Francisco, the 7-1 49ers and the 6-2 Giants renew an old rivalry in a big NFC contest. These teams have had some classic battles by the Bay, including the 1990 NFC Championship Game, which the Giants won 15-13 and the 2002 Wild Card game, where the 49ers erased a 24-point second half deficit to beat New York 39-38.
The 49ers have been down for the better part of a decade. The NFL owes much of its popularity to iconic names like Montana, Rice, Young and Walsh, so it is nice to see San Francisco once again playing in a significant regular season game against a historical foe like the Giants.
The only thing missing are the voices of Pat Summerall and John Madden from the press box at Candlestick Park.
