Canton, Ohio Feeling NFL Lockout Pain
By Ryan Rapoport - Wed, 2011-07-27 12:06
Monday was a great day for football fans, as the NFL lockout finally came to a conclusion. Unfortunately, one place that may not be so happy is Canton, Ohio, location of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The extended lockout caused the city’s annual pre-season Hall of Fame Game to be cancelled. The game was going to feature the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Rams, but the August 7 contest turned out to be the only game lost to the work stoppage.
As a result, the Hall of Fame will lose $1.5 million in estimated revenue, with the city of Canton’s losses pushing several million dollars higher.
This marks the first time since 1966 that there will not be a Hall of Fame Game.
