Giants Vs. Pats Matchup Offers Interesting Factual Backdrop
Sunday night, the New York Giants defeated the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 in a thrilling overtime contest at Candlestick Park. With that win, the Giants are now a perfect 5-0 in NFC Championship Games. New York advances to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, where they will face the New England Patriots.
New York vs. New England will be a rematch of Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Arizona, where the Giants upset the previously undefeated Patriots 17-14.
These two teams also met earlier this season, with the Giants winning 24-20 in Foxborough.
One more fact to consider, the quarterback matchup between Eli Manning and Tom Brady will only be the fifth time in Super Bowl history that each team’s starting QB enters the game with a Super Bowl victory on their resume.
