Friday night, the top seeded Michigan State Spartans host the 16 seed LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds in a first round West Region game at Columbus, Ohio. The Spartans, who feature one of the nation’s best coach/player combinations in Tom Izzo and Draymond Green, were the only top seed to win its conference tournament last weekend.

The Spartans are looking to capture their first NCAA championship since 2000, when they defeated the Florida Gators in Indianapolis.

In total, Izzo has led MSU to six Final Fours (’99, ’00, ’01, ’05, ’09, ’10).  

Green, a senior forward from Saginaw, Michigan, has averaged 16.1 points and 10.4 rebounds per game this season.
