Kings Making More History Courtesy Of Overtime Wins
By Ryan Rapoport - Mon, 2012-06-04 12:24
Monday night, the Los Angeles Kings host the New Jersey Devils in Game 3 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals. The Kings lead the series 2-0, after Jeff Carter’s overtime goal in Game 2 propelled LA to a 2-1 victory.
The Kings’ Game 1 win also ended via an overtime goal, courtesy of star center Anze Kopitar.
Amazingly, 2012 marks the first time since 1951 that the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals have gone into an extra period.
If the Devils have any chance of coming back and winning the series, they must win Game 3, because only three teams in NHL history have rallied back from a 0-3 deficit in the Stanley Cup Finals.
