Leinart Getting The Call In Houston
By Ryan Rapoport - Tue, 2011-11-15 16:11
The Houston Texans are off to their best start in franchise history with a 7-3 record. Monday, Houston was dealt a big blow when it was announced that quarterback Matt Schaub may be out for the season with a foot injury. This is bad news for a team that's already been hit by the injury bug.
Star defensive lineman Mario Williams is on the IR with a chest injury and All-Pro WR Andre Johnson has missed several weeks with a pulled hamstring.
The Texans will turn to backup quarterback Matt Leinart to replace Schaub. Leinart will get the call after this week’s bye. The Texans game at Jacksonville will mark Leinart’s first start since week 12 of the 2009 season, when the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner was with the Cardinals.
