USA Men’s Basketball Owns The Olympic Record Book
By Ryan Rapoport - Mon, 2012-07-30 22:47
The United States men's basketball team is looking to win their fourteenth all-time gold medal at the 2012 Olympics.
Going into the London Games, Team USA boasted an amazing 122-5 all-time record in Olympic competition, including a 63-game winning streak between 1936 and 1972. The team’s last Olympic loss took place in Athens during 2004, when they went down to the eventual gold medal winning squad from Argentina.
LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony are the only holdovers from the disappointing 2004 roster. Both men, who were part of the gold medal winning 2008 team in Beijing, are competing in their third Olympics.
