Thursday, iFolloSports.com posted a story chronicling the fiftieth anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain's famous 100-point game back in 1962. As noted in the article, the record-breaking game was played in front of only 4,124 fans at the Hershey Sports Arena (PA) and was not televised.

Fast forward to 2006 and you will find a far different situation surrounding Kobe Bryant’s setting of the modern scoring record of 81 points.

Bryant's 81 is second all-time to Chamberlain's 100.

LA’s game against the Toronto Raptors took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, before 18,997 fans, amid the second largest market in the United States.

Unlike Wilt’s game, Bryant's 81 was televised throughout the West Coast of the US, as well as much of Canada, with highlights of Kobe’s performance instantaneously shown on TV and internet entities throughout the world.   

For the game, Bryant shot 28-46 from the field and went 18-20 from the free-throw line.
