This Week's Top 6 Re-Tweeted Sports Links

Twitter logo sports colorsAh, what's not to love about October?  The MLB playoffs are in full swing, the weekends are packed with NCAA and NFL football, and the NHL season is just ramping up.

Yet, only one of the top six sports-related re-tweeted links had anything to do with this week's games. Instead, it was all about Tiger Woods, a European Court of Justice case, and--as always--the NBA.  No matter what the season or the state of the league, NBA fans have long been the among the most enthusiastic and prolific tweeters, a fact not lost on the NBA-licensed merchandisers who continue to pick up the off-season slack with a steady offering of new products and promotions.

So here's our Thursday roundup of the past week's top 6 re-tweeted sports-related links:

#6 Tiger Woods not one of golf's top 50 players-CNN

Not only that;  he was ousted by a guy named Oosthuizen--ooh, ouch!  On the upside, the goatee is filling in quite nicely...?

#5 NBA to cancel games if no deal Monday-ESPN

Whatever happens, let's just hope it's not TrueHoop's Scenario 3. (Fact:  When people refuse to compromise, it's always the lawyers who get rich.)

#4 Premier League games can be shown on foreign decoders-BBC

This is kind of a big deal, not because the nice English pub lady prevailed against Big Media (still: yay, pub lady!!), but because it's going to force the European courts to further define what rights broadcasters of sports events actually own, and our own US-based ESPN--maybe you've heard of them?--happens to have a decent-sized dog in that fight...

#3 Grandy's dazzling catch: clip of what might go down as one of the best grabs in #postseason history-MLB Video

Eh. Not sure it's Sam-Fuld-Legend worthy, but, then, unlike the mighty Yankees, Sammy's Rays are out of the playoffs, so we won't begrudge Curtis Granderson the postseason glory.  Even if he was kind of a baby about it.

     #2 Adidas D Rose: adiZero Rose 2 The Bull-YouTube

This is insanely gorgeous.  If you haven't seen it yet, prepare for goose bumps.

And the top tweeted link for the last seven days is.......

#1 The NBA2K12 Cover Feat. "His Airness" -- Twitpic (via @Jordan22)

Because, seriously, who cares about a lockout when there's NBAK12?
