Dan Gladden Looks Like He Could Still Play
Thursday, I saw former gritty Big League outfielder and current Minnesota Twins radio broadcaster Dan Gladden at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Remarkably, the 55-year-old Gladden looks to still be in excellent shape, despite retiring from professional baseball in 1994, when he finished his career in Japan.
Gladden was a key member of the Twins 1987 and 1991 World Series championship teams, as well as the 1994 Yomiuri Giants Nippon Professional Baseball league championship squad.
Interestingly, Gladden and Hideki Matsui are the only players ever to win a championship in both MLB and Japanese baseball.
Because of his successful playing and broadcast career, the California native has remained a local celebrity in Minnesota going on 25 years.
As a result, the famous ballplayer was an easy spot, as I was standing in baggage waiting to pick up another recently landed traveler.
