Stephen Strasburg Is A String Bean In Person

While spending time at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena hotel recently, I happened to walk right past Washington Nationals phenom Stephen Strasburg. The Langham is the Nationals hotel of choice when visiting Los Angeles to play the Dodgers, as the luxury property is located only a few minutes east of Dodger Stadium.

The first thing I noticed about the National League Pitcher of the Month for April was how incredibly thin he is.

It's been well documented that the first overall selection in the 2009 MLB draft has lost 30 pounds over the last couple years, lowering his weight from 250 lbs. to 220 lbs.  Now coming in at 220, the 6-4 Strasburg looks more slender than strong, but this has clearly not impacted his ability to throw a baseball.

After undergoing Tommy John Surgery in 2010, Strasburg has come back with a vengeance, going 2-0, with a 1.13 ERA so far in 2012.

He may look less imposing, but if you ask any National League hitter who has faced Strasburg this season, they would all probably agree that this once in a generation pitcher is as daunting as ever.

For Stephen Strasburg, less appears to be more.
