Tigers Icon Al Kaline Speaking To Fans At Comerica Park (Photo)

Al Kaline Meeting Fans In DetroitLance Martinez from My Detroit Sports sends along this original photo of Tigers hall of famer Al Kaline speaking to fans outside of Comerica Park, located in downtown Detroit.

The now 82-year-old Kaline played for the Tigers from 1953-1974. The Baltimore native’s incredible résumé includes 18 All-Star Games, 10 Gold Gloves and the 1955 American League batting title. In addition, Kaline was an integral member of the Tigers 1968 World Series winning roster.

All told, Kaline compiled 3,007 hits, amid a career BA of .297, with 399 homeruns and 1,582 RBI.

The outfielder was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1980.

The Michigan sports icon has been a member of the Detroit organization ever since he joined the team, upon graduating from high school in 1953. After spending nearly 30 years as a television broadcaster, Kaline still works as a special assistant to the general manager.
