The Yankee Killer Signing Some Autographs (Photo)

Boston Red Sox utility infielder Pedro Ciriaco is by no means a household name. But, in the New York Yankees versus Red Sox rivalry, the man from the Dominican Republic is more widely known as the “Yankee Killer.” During parts of four MLB seasons, Ciriaco has a career batting average of .294, with 3 homeruns, 29 RBI and 20 stolen bases (entering Friday). However, when facing the boys from the Bronx (53 career at bats), the now 27-year-old possesses a ridiculous .415 batting average, with 7 RBI, 5 stolen bases and 12 runs scored (all in 2012). When batting against the Yankees last season, Ciriaco compiled two, four-hit games, one, three-hit game and three, two-hit games.

Thus far in 2013, Ciriaco has yet to come to the plate against the Yankees, during Boston's three early season contests vs. New York.

Above is an iFolloSports.com original photo of Ciriaco signing autographs, outside the Grand Hotel Minneapolis, during Friday afternoon, a few hours before the Red Sox played the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.

It will be interesting to see if Ciriaco can continue to put up such crazy stats against the Yankees, when considering his very pedestrian numbers when hitting against everyone else.
