The Ironman That Is Russell Westbrook (Video)
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is a very interesting study. While the man from Long Beach (CA) possesses a simply remarkable amount of athletic talent, perhaps his greatest quality involves the ability to never ever tire out.
On the court, Westbrook's exuberance for the game is impossible not to recognize. The UCLA alum has played in 375 consecutive games, a mark that happens to currently lead the league by an astounding 162 games. Besides his ability to stay healthy, it is amazing to consider how infrequently Westbrook is ever seen huffing and puffing on the court. At points in the game, when other players are out of breath and/or resting their hands on their knees, Westbrook always seems to be standing tall, as if he is simply waiting for the opening tip. Westbrook's conditioning is absolutely unparalleled.
Above is iFolloSports.com original video of the 24-year-old ironman signing autographs outside the Casa Del Mar hotel, in Santa Monica, California. Uniquely adorned in what appeared to be capri pants, Westbrook made the rounds, signing a few signatures prior to OKC's recent 108-104 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, at Staples Center.
To date, Westbrook is averaging an outstanding clip of 23.4 PPG, 5.2 RPG and 7.7 APG this season, for an OKC team that is one of the very few NBA squads capable of winning a world championship. Westbrook and his partner in crime, Kevin Durant, have the Thunder playing fantastic basketball for a third straight season. It's scary how good this team should continue to be for many years to come.
Fans can also take a look at original video of Westbrook (with his Thunder teammates) exiting their team charter bus in Santa Monica, after a shootaround, earlier this season.
Another original clip displays Westbrook signing autographs for fans in Minneapolis, a couple of seasons ago.
