LeBron James Boarding Heat Bus In LA (Video)
As of January 18, 2013, it can easily be argued that Miami Heat superstar LeBron James is the biggest present-day sports icon in the entire world. Love him, hate him, or completely indifferent to the man from Akron, 2.5 years after making “The Decision” to take his talents to South Beach, James stands as perhaps the most recognizable athlete on the planet, particularly when factoring in the fall from grace of a guy by the name of Tiger Woods.
From the time of his controversial approach to jettisoning Cleveland, through his resounding 2011 NBA Finals beat down (courtesy of the Dallas Mavericks), all the way up to his triumphant 2012 Finals victory (versus the Oklahoma City Thunder) and subsequent gold medal achievement at the 2012 London Olympics (James' second Olympic gold), “King James” is seemingly never more than a few minutes from being the center of a sports related conversation, somewhere on the planet. The man is an all-pervading presence in nearly every corner of the world.
Seven months after collecting his first-ever NBA title and NBA Finals MVP, the three-time league MVP checked off yet another historic benchmark, when becoming the youngest player to surpass the 10,000-point mark. Adding even more gravity to this accomplishment, in the Wednesday night game at the Golden State Warriors, James also became the 13th player to post both 20,000 points and 5,000 assists in a career.
Thursday, less than 24 hours after his historic game in Oakland and two hours before the Heat's matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center, iFolloSports.com original video spotted James boarding Miami's charter bus, outside the Omni Los Angeles Hotel. Per his usual routine, the sunglass and headphone adorned star gave a quick wave to the group of screaming fans, ironically, on the very same day he was named a starter in his ninth All-Star Game.
James contributed an impressive 39 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists, in his team's 99-90 win over the Lakers.
