A Look At The Warriors Rather Understated Training Camp Setting (Photos)
After spending the early stages of training camp at their normal home base in Oakland, due to an odd scheduling quirk, the Golden State Warriors are now conducting this week's installment of camp nearly 400 miles to the south.
Tuesday night, Golden State took on the Clippers at Staples Center, in downtown LA. Thursday, GSW battles the Lakers, also at Staples. Then, on Sunday, the Warriors and Lakers take to the court one more time, with this game taking place in Ontario (CA), 43 miles east of Staples Center.
As a result of the team's extended stay in Southern California, the Warriors are spending the week running drills at Santa Monica's Memorial Park gym. Far from the opulence that usually accompanies an NBA practice venue, Memorial Park is just that, a park, comprised of a basic basketball gym and fitness center, as well as baseball, softball and soccer fields and even a skateboarding complex.
The city owned facility is located 14 miles west of Staples Center and 1.5 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean.
Below is a look at the unique and rather understated setting, the highly talented Warriors are calling home this week, as they get ready for what should be an exciting season by the Bay.
