Lon Kruger Serenaded Upon Departing Anaheim Hotel (Video)

Above is iFolloSports.com original video of Oklahoma Sooners men’s basketball coach Lon Kruger exiting the Wyndham Anaheim Garden Grove hotel, prior to OU’s 80-68 victory over Oregon, in Saturday’s West Region Final. Like Buddy Hield and the other departing Sooner players, Kruger was serenaded by the school’s band blasting the famous “Boomer Sooner” fight song, while receiving well wishes from cheerleaders and Oklahoma fans.

The 63-year-old Kruger is a coaching lifer, having spent nearly 40 years on both NCAA and NBA sidelines. Kruger’s coaching journey has included stops at Kansas State (his alma mater), Florida, Illinois, the Atlanta Hawks, the Knicks (assistant coach), UNLV and now Oklahoma. The Kansas native departed Las Vegas for Norman in 2011, upon agreeing to a 7-year/$16 million contract.

2016 marks Kruger’s second trip to the Final Four. He led the Florida Gators to the event way back in 1994.

Kruger’s career record as a college coach stands at a very impressive 590-360.
