BCS Title Game Team & Media Bases Of Operation (Photos)

Monday evening, the 2014 Vizio BCS National Championship Game will be played at the legendary Rose Bowl, in Pasadena, California. No. 1 ranked Florida State and No. 2 Auburn will kick things off at around 8:30 PM ET/5:30 PM PT. The battle for college football supremacy is scheduled to occur just 5 days after Michigan State defeated Stanford, in the Rose Bowl Game Presented By Vizio.

This year, as is the case every year, the January 1 game participants were based within the city limits of Los Angeles (Rose Bowl stadium located 10 miles from downtown LA).  The Spartans were headquartered at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live, while the Cardinal lodged at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. Both programs practiced at the StubHub Center, in the nearby city of Carson.

As a result of the overlap that existed between the January 1 schools and BCS game teams, the BCS participants' bases of operation are located immediately south of LA, in the Orange County cities of Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and Irvine. Though situated approximately 50 miles southwest of the game venue, the OC hotel, practice and media arrangement all lie within about 6 miles of one another, as compared to the up to 21 miles of driving needed to go between LA based lodging and practice venues.

Below is a look at the BCS bases of operation.

The undefeated Seminoles are hanging their helmets at The Westin South Coast Plaza, located in Costa Mesa. Both the exterior and interior of the property make it abundantly clear that the team from Tallahassee is residing there. The Westin is a popular destination for sports teams in town to play Anaheim based franchises. At the very same time as FSU's visit, the Edmonton Oilers were also present at the hotel.
