Derrick Hall high school career rushing record, commits to AlabamaKen Hall set a national high school record for career rushing yardage, when he amassed 11,232 yards in Sugar Land, Texas, from 1950-53. His record survived until last Friday night, when running back Derrick Henry (Yulee, Florida) topped Hall's total on a 52-yard touchdown run in the state playoffs.

Yulee is a town of 11,000, located north of Jacksonville.

The 6-3, 240-pound Henry has rushed for more than 100 yards in 45 consecutive high school games, while averaging 341 yards per game this season.

Earlier this year, he passed NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith on the prep career rushing list.

Mid States Football League Western Conference Championship game "Replacement Referee Night"The Racine Raiders host the Roscoe Rush in the Mid States Football League (MSFL) Western Conference Championship game Saturday night in Racine, Wisconsin. The Raiders have deemed the game "Replacement Referee Night."

This means that all fans who show up dressed as officials will be admitted free of charge.  

In addition, the most creatively costumed spectators will be invited to go on the field at halftime for a "Worst Call of the Night" contest.

The Raiders plan to go ahead with the promotion, even though the NFL lockout of officials ended earlier this week.

Thomas Tyner rushes for 644 yards and 10 touchdownsThomas Tyner turned 18 on Friday. That night, he went out and rushed for a state record 644 yards (on 38 carries) and 10 touchdowns, leading the Beaverton (Oregon) Aloha High Warriors to an 84-63 victory over Lakeridge, in a game where not much defense was played.

The 6-0, 205 pound bowling ball has 1,228 yards and 17 touchdowns, in only three games so far this season.

Tyner is also the Oregon state sprint champion, with a best time of an outstanding 10.38 seconds.  He recently made a verbal commitment to play football and run track at the University of Oregon.

John Taylor 6-11 and 500 poundsThe Central Penn Piranha are a semi-pro team in the Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL). One of their defensive tackles is John Taylor, known to one and all as "House."

Taylor stands 6-11 and weighs in at around 500 pounds. His number 71 jersey is size 6XL.

Taylor, 35, explained to CBS 21 News, in Harrisburg (PA), the best way to block him: “Just don’t run my way.”

"You got to catch me moving in one direction. You’re not going to straight up just move me most times,” later added the very very big man.

Holley Mangold makes Olympic weightlifting teamA sibling of star New York Jets center Nick Mangold just made the US Olympic team last weekend.

Holley Mangold, Nick’s sister, captured one of two spots on the women's weightlifting team, which will compete in London this summer.  She clinched her spot by lifting 319 pounds during the clean-and-jerk portion of the event. 

Holley Mangold played high school varsity football in the Dayton, Ohio area and competed in shot put and discus at Ursuline College near Cleveland. Since then, she has taken up weightlifting. 

Holley Mangold is 5-8 and weighs in at around 370 pounds. By comparison, brother Nick comes in at 6-4 and 307 pounds.
