Female Boxers To Wear Skirts In LondonThe international federation for boxing (AIBA) has introduced female boxing for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, with 36 boxers scheduled to compete for medals. A few months back, AIBA generated a good deal of controversy by implying that these female competitors would have to wear skirts in the ring, as opposed to the standard pair of shorts.  Some lady boxers were quoted as saying they do not even wear skirts when they go out with their friends, with AIBA countering that skirts make it easier to determine whether boxers are male or female.

Following a recent meeting of AIBA’s executive committee, in which the issue was part of the discussion, it has officially been determined that women fighters will have the choice of either sticking with shorts, or adorning the controversial skirts.

Mike Tyson sings The Girl from IpanemaMike Tyson recently made an appearance on the popular Brazilian television program "Caldeirao do Huck" and what he did was quite surprising.

Challenged by host Luciano Huck, "Iron Mike" sang the classic song "The Girl from Ipanema,” in a duet with Daniel Jobim, the grandson of the classic song’s original composer.

The performance took place mainly in English, with a hint of Portuguese, Brazil’s native language.

Manny Pacquiao interview Playboy MagazineIn a revealing interview with Playboy Magazine, the world's best pound-for-pound boxer, Manny Pacquiao, explains how he prepares for a big match. According to the Philippine icon, the key is not getting intimate with his wife for three weeks prior to an important fight, because he believes that would lessen his strength and power.

Pacquiao and his trainer have discussed the issue with doctors and have concluded that sex lowers one's testosterone. It is a theory also followed by soccer teams during the World Cup.

In addition, Manny told the magazine that some boxers abstain for 7 to 10 days before a fight, but not three weeks, as Pacquiao claims he does.

No wonder Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been avoiding him.

Dewey Bozella boxing debutSaturday, ageless boxer Bernard Hopkins was defeated in one of the most bizarre TKO's in recent memory.

Prior to this, an even older fighter, as compared to the 46-year-old Hopkins, made his professional debut on the undercard in Los Angeles.

52-year-old Dewey Bozella won a unanimous decision over Larry Hopkins (no relation to Bernard). In another oddity, Larry Hopkins lost points in the match's final round after spitting out his mouthpiece six times.

At the event's conclusion, Bozella announced his retirement from boxing.
