Chris Leben, CC Sabathia, Joey Chestnut Vallejo High SchoolMixed martial arts champion Chris Leben was interviewed by the Vancouver Sun and was asked about two other famous alumni of Vallejo (CA) High School. Vallejo is located in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Leben was questioned about who was the most dominant performer in his chosen field, Leben, CC Sabathia of the Yankees or Joey Chestnut of competitive eating fame.

"To put my name in the same sentence as those guys, unreal," replied Leben. "I would have to say CC Sabathia. I know him personally. What he’s doing in the sport of baseball and I've seen where he comes from. I believe that’s a great feat that he's doing."

UFC on FOX 5.7 million viewersFOX television announced that Saturday's UFC debut on network television was the most watched live hour ever for mixed martial arts in the US. The show drew 5.7 million viewers, far surpassing the MMA event shown on CBS in May of 2008, featuring Kimbo Slice.

Saturday's showdown between Oregon and Stanford had a viewership of more than 11 million fans, but FOX did quite well with men in the age group 18-34, outdrawing all college football games this season except LSU vs. Alabama.

Junior dos Santos of Brazil won the UFC heavyweight title belt by knockout after 64 seconds.

The seven-year deal between FOX and the UFC officially begins in January.  .

UFC signs deal with FOXThursday, in a major step forward for mixed martial arts, FOX Sports announced that they had come to terms with the Ultimate Fighting Championships on a seven-year agreement. The deal calls for the televising of four live cards per year in primetime, as well as a variety UFC relating programming, slated to air throughout the FOX family of networks. The package is reported to be worth $100 million annually.

For the past six years, the UFC had been airing on Spike TV. Spike will reportedly replace the UFC action with shows such as "Bar Rescue' and "Auction Hunter". These programs will attract only a small percentage of the UFC audience, as interest in mixed martial arts has skyrocketed and simply outgrown Spike.

Dennis "Superman" Hallman Dennis "Superman" Hallman was about to face Brian Ebersole at UFC 133, last weekend in Philadelphia, when he entered the octagon wearing Speedo-like trunks that left very little to the imagination.

Hallman was knocked out in the first round, but that did not temper the anger of UFC president Dana White, who awarded Ebersole a $70,000 bonus for clocking Hallman.

White immediately outlawed the trunks for future bouts and added, "I've never been so embarrassed to be in the UFC. I was horrified by the moment, it's the last time you'll see that here."

A smiling Ebersole had his own opinion.

"I was just worried about his cup and worried about his uniform malfunctioning," explained the victor.

Don't look for Hallman on any UFC cards anytime soon.
