Tina Maze underwear ControversySlovenian skier Tina Maze placed second in a giant slalom race in Austria earlier this month, while causing a controversy over the type of underwear she was wearing.

The Swiss Ski Federation filed a protest about her one-piece, long underwear, worn under her racing uniform in Bad Kleinkircheim. The Swiss complained that the underwear contained some plastic which could prevent her body from breathing, creating a health concern and also an aerodynamic advantage.

The undergarment was confiscated, tested and ruled legal by race officials, who recommended that female skiers should not wear the body stocking.

Maze later provoked the issue during a televised interview by stripping away the top of her ski suit to reveal a sports bra which read:  "Not Your Business."

Sandy Vietze urinating on airplaneSandy Vietze, 18, was an elite member of the US Ski Team developmental squad, in preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. He had been training at Mount Hood (Oregon).

Now, he is a former member of the team.

Last week, while lounging at the Portland International Airport, Vietze, by his own admission, drank eight alcoholic beverages. This all took place prior to boarding an overnight fight to New York.

During the eastbound JetBlue red eye, Vietze staggered toward the restroom, but stopped and treated an 11-year-old girl as his personal urinal.

Vietze had an interesting explanation for the police after the flight.

"I was drunk and I did not realize that I was pissing on her leg," explained the skier.

Manuel Osborne-ParadisManuel Osborne-Paradis, a 27-year-old member of the Canadian national alpine skiing team, is having a rough 2011. Osborne-Paradis, who competed in the downhill and super-g events at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, suffered a broken leg in a downhill race at Chamonix, France last January. He has been rehabbing the injury in Calgary.

On July 14, an intoxicated Osborne-Paradis climbed onto a party bus, lost his grip and fell off, then was dragged nearly 100 yards before the bus driver was alerted and stopped.  Calgary Police said he was being treated for "severe road rash on his buttocks."  They also issued him a traffic citation for riding or being towed on the outside of a motor vehicle.
