Downtown ClevelandThis upcoming season, the Big Ten Conference will expand from 11 to 12 schools, when the University of Nebraska officially relocates away from the Big 12 Conference.  As a result, the league will begin playing a football championship game. This year's inaugural contest will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on December 3. Indy is also in the final year of an arrangement to host the Big Ten's men's and women's basketball tournaments.

Friday, November 19, I was on the sideline for the California Pac-5 playoff opener between Mater Dei High School of Santa Ana, CA and Long Beach (CA) Polytechnic High School. The game was played at Long Beach Veterans Stadium.

Lane Kiffin to succeed Pete Carroll at USC

Multiple media sources are reporting that University of Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin has agreed to become head coach of the USC Trojans. Kiffin will be replacing his former mentor Pete Carroll, who was introduced as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday. Kiffin served as an assistant at USC from 2001-2006.
