Kevin Dillman Ninth Grade QBQuarterback Kevin Dillman of La Mirada High School (CA) received scholarship offers from Louisville, Colorado, UCLA and California recently. Nothing unusual about that, except for the fact that Dillman is in ninth grade and has never started a high school game.   

Last season, as a backup QB, Dillman completed 18 of 26 passes for 216 yards, while running for 103 yards on 16 carries.

In January, Oregon Ducks junior running back LaMichael James declared himself eligible for the NFL Draft. This announcement took place shortly after the Ducks all-time leading rusher concluded his college career in grand style by rushing for 159 yards and a touchdown in his team's 45-38 Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin.

Despite missing two games due to a dislocated right elbow, James rushed for 1,805 yards and 18 TD's during his final season in Eugene. The native Texan averaged a nation-leading 150 yards per game in 2011.

Recruit Chooses Auburn Because Of Chick-fil-A?

Cassanova McKinzy and Chick-fil-AFebruary 1 was national signing day for high school football stars and many gave typical answers about their college choices including academics, proximity to home, and coaches.

Linebacker Cassanova McKinzy of Birmingham, Alabama had his own reasons for his decision. 

The creatively-named McKinzy paired his choices to two universities and eventually signed with Auburn, picking them over Clemson.

"Will LSU cross halfcourt?" A homemade sign was spotted in the stands at a recent SEC basketball game between Alabama and LSU, just a few days following the Crimson Tide's 21-0 thrashing of the Tigers in the 2012 BCS National Championship Game.

The sign read:  "Will LSU cross halfcourt?" 

Incidentally, Alabama came out on top of LSU on this occasion as well, 69-53

Former Ameritrade CEO Becomes College Football Head Coach

Joe Moglia hired by Coastal CarolinaCoastal Carolina recently announced the hiring of new head football coach Joe Moglia.  You might remember him as the former CEO at Ameritrade, where he worked from 2001-2008. 

Moglia last held a paid college coaching job in 1983, when he served as defensive coordinator at Dartmouth. He reportedly signed a five-year contract worth $175,000 annually, far less than he made at Ameritrade.

Monday night's BCS National Championship Game may have generated tremendous interest in the states of Alabama and Louisiana, but the same cannot be said for the rest of the United States.

The Alabama victory over LSU drew a national rating of 14.0. This figure represents the second lowest viewership level in the 14-year history of the BCS. The 2012 rating was down eight percent from last year's Auburn vs. Oregon matchup in Glendale, Arizona.

Since the BCS was formed in 1998, Alabama became the first team to record a shutout in a BCS bowl. This was also the first time that LSU has been shutout since 2002, when ironically it was Alabama who held them scoreless.
