Laiya's radio career began at the age of 13 when she served as a volunteer at Washington DC's 102.3 WMMJ. This DC native grew up in a family of musicians and music lovers, inspiring her appreciation far beyond most. After Laiya received her bachelor's degree in Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University, she moved back up North making Philadelphia her home in 1999. Her Philadelphia radio career started at "the other station" when she worked in the Promotions Dept and then moved up to Night Show producer working alongside Poochman. Three years later she left in search of a bigger opportunity leading her to what was then known as 103.9 The Beat where she obtained her own specialty show, "Sunday Morning Soul". From that show Laiya caught the ears of her bosses and landed the "overnight "shift (2a-6a). Her knack for cleverly delivering entertainment news and providing laughs to tons of late shift workers in the Delaware Valley led her to audition for the producer's job of the brand new morning show, "Monie and Pooch in the Mornings". Well she didn't get the producer job, but she did get a "And" added to her name, because the morning show would now be called "Monie, Pooch AND LAIYA". After a couple years of doing mornings Laiya was off on her own to host "Laiyasworld in your Midday" from 10a-2p Monday through Saturday. Her TV appearances include, CN8, Fox, The CW and "The Doctor Oz Show" and you can now catch her in DC on 95.5 WPGC.
