Steve Nash's beyond legendary status in Canada

Phoenix Suns' guard Steve Nash has become one of the great sports icons of both the state of Arizona and the NBA as a whole.  While Nash's college and professional accomplishments have all taken place in the United States, his standing in his native Canada is in a strata reserved for very few athletes. 

This love and admiration was on full display during the 2010 Vancouver Olympic opening ceremonies. Nash was chosen to be one of the Canadian greats to carry the Olympic torch and light the cauldron.

Michigan State has appeared in six of the last 12 NCAA Final Fours.  During this remarkable run, one of the constants has been the appearance of the great Magic Johnson, at each of these events.  Magic, MSU’s most famous alum, clearly possesses a tremendous feeling for his hometown school.  Magic led MSU to their first national title in 1979. It’s cool that Mr. LA has not forgotten his roots and where he came from.

Amar'e Stoudemire joining LeBron James in Cleveland?

As Thursday's NBA trade deadline fast approaches, the hottest rumor surrounds a megadeal involving the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers. 

Multiple sources are reporting that a trade sending Suns' forward Amar'e Stoudemire to Cleveland for center Zydrunas Ilgauskas and forward J.J. Hickson is near completion.

Kobe, LeBron & D-Wade headline selections for Team USA

Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and six other members of Team USA's 2008 Olympic gold medal winning team, have been invited to compete for a spot in the 2012 summer games.   The 2012 Olympics will commence on July 27, 2012 in London.

Obama mixes it up with the Lakers & Wildcats

Tonight, President Obama will give his first State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress and the American people.  In the days leading up to the speech, Mr. Obama has involved himself in the world of sports by speaking with the Los Angeles Lakers and Kentucky Wildcats.

While in Washington to play the Wizards, the NBA Champion Lakers made their way to the White House.  The practice of defending league champions meeting the President has become an American sports tradition. Monday, it was the Lakers who came knocking on the door of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
