The Replica Ryder Cup Tour Lands At Hazeltine (Photos)

The 41st Ryder Cup will be held this weekend at Hazeltine National Golf Club, in the Twin Cities suburb of Chaska, Minnesota, with both the USA and Europe battling for the famous Ryder Cup trophy, which is one of the most exclusive prizes in all of sports. Like the Stanley Cup and World Cup trophy (for both men’s and women’s soccer), there is only one engraved trophy awarded to the winners. Other major sports award champions a different trophy each and every year.

There are three Ryder Cups in existence. The original one, donated by British businessman Samuel Ryder, is stored in Great Britain. The rotating tournament trophy is held by the PGA of America, with a replica, traveling cup, put on display throughout the world, for fans to enjoy.

The Ryder Cup is 17 inches tall, 9 inches wide and weighs 4 pounds. It is made of gold.
