2013 World Series TV Ratings Update

2013 World Series Game 1 8.6 final rating, 2013 World Series Game 2 8.3 final ratingWith the 2013 World Series shifting from Boston to St. Louis, for Games 3, 4 and 5, here is a look at the American viewing public's interest in the first two games of the Fall Classic.

Game 1 scored a final rating of 8.6, with an average of 14.4 million people watching the contest.

Game 2 notched a final rating of 8.3, with an average of 13.4 million folks taking in the festivities.

Thus far, the 2013 World Series is well outpacing last year's record low viewership mark, but lagging slightly behind 2011, when the very same Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers in 7 games.

2013 represents the Red Sox third trip to the World Series since 2004. Interest in this particular team's quest for a championship is well below where things stood in both 2007 and more noticeably, the magical season of 2004, when Boston also played St. Louis.

Back in '04, Games 1 and 2 were viewed by an average of roughly 20 million Americans. Of course, coming back from 3-0 down to their archrival Yankees, in the ALCS, while seeking a first World Series victory in 86 years, brings in the casual fan far more than posting the AL's best record, amid a run of two very recent titles.

First pitch of Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday night at 8:07ET/7:07CT.
