Alexi Ogando Riding Shotgun (Video)

Alexi Ogando is a relief pitcher for the Rangers, who was originally signed by the Athletics in 2002 as an outfielder. After a few years in the Athletics organization, the Rangers acquired him in the 2005 Rule 5 Draft and then turned him into a pitcher.

During his rookie year of 2010, Ogando served as an effective reliever, posting a 4-1 record.

In 2011, Ogando was turned into a starting pitcher after an injury to Tommy Hunter,. His 7-0 start earned him a spot on the All-Star team. He finished the season with a 13-8 record and a 3.51 ERA. The Rangers turned Ogando back into a relief pitcher for the 2011 postseason.

With Texas making two consecutive World Series appearances, Ogando and the Rangers have become quite prominent around baseball.
