The Best Tribute Yet On The Tragic Death Of José Fernández

In case you missed it, an unbelievably tragic event occurred in the waters off Miami Beach, on Saturday night into Sunday morning, when Marlins star pitcher José Fernández (along with two other men) passed away as a result of an apparent boating accident. Fernández was just 24-years-old.

In the hours after learning of this horrible news, ESPN’s Dan Le Batard penned a very poignant piece for the Miami Herald (La Batard’s former employer), chronicling the Cuban born Fernández’s life, as well as the impact he had on the people of South Florida, most notably the area’s Cuban community.

What a tragedy.
