Cleveland Closer Calls Out Cleveland Fans

Chris Perez comments on Indians fansCleveland Indians closer Chris Perez spoke at length Sunday regarding the dismal attendance at Progressive Field this season.

Cleveland is last in all of baseball, averaging a home crowd of less than 16,000, in a venue that holds more than 43,000.

"It's just a slap in the face when you're last in attendance. Last. It's not like we're 25th or 26th. We're last. Oakland is out-drawing us. That's embarrassing," explained Perez.

The Indians are off to a hot start this season, leading the AL Central by 3.5 games, entering Wednesday's game versus the Detroit Tigers.

The aforementioned Athletics are averaging under 19,000 spectators at home, so far in 2012, with the surprising Baltimore Orioles drawing only a little more than 22,000.

This will not end well and it's a fight Perez cannot win.
