Eric Hosmer Buys Royals Fans Drinks After ALDS Win
Sunday night, the Kansas City Royals completed an improbable three-game sweep of the LA Angels, at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. In the process, the Royals advanced to the ALCS for the first time since 1985.
It has been such a long drought for the Royals, that back in 1985, the number one movie in the USA was “Back to the Future,” the iconic film starring a 24-year-old Michael J. Fox, who of course played Marty McFly traveling back in time.
Also, for those keeping score, the top song in 1985 was “Careless Whisper,” by Wham!.
Over the last 29 years, the Royals and their fans have had very little to cheer about. With this in mind, after Sunday's win, Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer took to Twitter and invited fans to join him and his teammates at McFadden's Sports Saloon, located in Kansas City's Power & Light District. Once at the bar, Hosmer proceeded to purchase an hour's worth of free drinks for everyone.
A further report of the party is available courtesy of KSHB Kansas City.
What a great gesture by Hosmer!
Certainly back in 1985, before Twitter and really any other forms of mobile technology existed, a class move like this would not have been possible.
