Greinke Vs. deGrom Shaping Up To Be A Beauty In LA
Thursday night, the Dodgers host the Mets in the decisive Game 5 of their NLDS series. The Mets led the series 2-1, before three-time Cy Young award winner Clayton Kershaw pitched the Dodgers to a Game 4 victory. Kershaw finally won a postseason game, breaking a personal 5-game losing streak and previous 1-6 record and 4.99 ERA (12 postseason appearances).
Game 5 features the very good pitching matchup of Zack Greinke and Jacob deGrom. Greinke had a great regular season, posting an incredible 19-3 record, along with a paltry 1.66 ERA. deGrom was also very good in 2015, tallying a 14-8 record, combined with a 2.54 ERA. Both hurlers are 1-0 in the series, as deGrom struck out 13 in a Game 1 victory, while Greinke K’d 8 in a Game 2 triumph.
The last time the Dodgers played in a winner-take-all game was back in Game 7 of the 1988 NLCS, when LA ironically beat the Mets at Dodger Stadium.
The last time the Mets were in a similar contest was during Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS, when New York went down to the Cardinals at home.
The winner of Thursday’s deciding game will battle the Cubs in the upcoming NLCS.
