Hammer Time In Oakland Last Weekend

MC Hammer BobbleheadIn the conclusion to their "80s Weekend" promotion, the Oakland A's had an usual giveaway Sunday, an MC Hammer bobblehead doll.  Oakland, along with Supercuts, gave away 15,000 of the dolls, the first time a rapper was honored by a baseball team. Attendance was announced at more than 26,000, about 7,000 above the season average.

Hammer (Stanley Burrell Jr.) was a bat boy and clubhouse assistant for his hometown A's between 1973 and 1980.  He threw out the first pitch and then watched Oakland score eight runs in the first inning, en route to a 9-1 hammering of the Angels.

Many of the bobbleheads are already available on e-bay.
