Jayson Werth's Beard Is The Real Deal

Shortly after taking notice of Stephen Strasburg at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena hotel, I happened upon Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth, as he headed out of the property's front door, for perhaps an early afternoon trip to Dodger Stadium.

Werth is very familiar with both the city of Los Angeles and its famous baseball park, after spending three seasons with the Dodgers from 2004-06 (missed entire 2006 season due to injury).

Whether it be on television, or in person, Werth's most striking physical characteristic continues to be his rather impressive beard. When catching a glimpse of him from close range, it becomes abundantly clear that Werth's facial hair efforts are no joke. He definitely brings it!

A cleaned up version of Werth showed up to the December 2010 press conference, where he and the Nationals announced the terms of a seven-year/$126 million free agent contract.  Many fans of the scrappy look were disappointed to see that Werth had initially elected to shave the furious beard he had sported with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he spent four seasons before heading south to DC.

While Werth has certainly evolved into a top level major league player, he will probably always be most known for how infrequently he uses a razor.

Judging by his decision to regrow the unmistakable look, our guess is that he is probably just fine with that fact of life.
