Joc Pederson Has LA Fans Excited (Video)
In one of the biggest and most surprising stories of the offseason, the Dodgers elected to clear their ongoing logjam in the outfield, by trading two-time All-Star Matt Kemp to the rival San Diego Padres. With Kemp now out of the picture, the man slated to take his place in CF is 22-year-old Joc Pederson.
Last season, while playing for the Dodgers Triple-A club in Albuquerque, Pederson become the first Triple-A player in 80 years to hit 30 HR and steal 30 bases in the same season. All told, in 121 games, Pederson hit .303, with 33 HR, 78 RBI, 100 BB, 30 SB and 106 runs scored, while also playing a stellar OF.
As a result of these accomplishments, Pederson is ranked 13th on MLB.com's 2015 Prospect Watch list.
After playing 18 games with the Dodgers, at the end of last season, the Northern California native will be penciled in as the team's opening day CF, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
