Joe Maddon Of Course Spotted On A Bike

Wednesday, per an iFolloSports.com tipster, brand new Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon was spotted riding a bicycle on Tampa's Bayshore Boulevard. Maddon's love of cycling has been well chronicled, including this piece in Bicycling.com, where coincidently, he speaks of a recent ride he took along the very same South Tampa roadway.

Maddon spent 2006-2014 on the Rays bench, before bolting to Chicago's North Side last month, agreeing to a 5-year/$25 million contract with the Cubs. During his 9-season stint in St. Pete, the now 60-year-old amassed a record of 754-704, including 4 postseason appearances and an American League pennant in 2008. Maddon was named AL Manager of the Year in both ‘08 and 2011.

While Maddon's professional life has taken him to Chicago, it appears as if the Pennsylvania native is not yet willing to trade the balmy Florida winters, in exchange for the wind, cold and snow that always accompanies December in Chicago.

For those keeping score, Wednesday's high temperature in Tampa was 80. This big number stands in stark contrast to the 38-degree day tallied 1,100 miles to the north, in the Windy City.
