Joe Mauer Getting Coached Below AT&T Park (Video)

Joe MauerMinnesota Twins superstar catcher Joe Mauer has had a forgettable 2011 season. A persistent leg injury kept the three-time batting champion out of a whopping 57 games. The 2009 American League MVP finally returned to the lineup last Friday vs. the San Diego Padres, getting an RBI single in his first at bat, but somewhat struggling to find his stoke ever since.

Thursday, Mauer was held out of the starting nine during the Twins 2-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park. Prior to the game, Mauer was seen taking cuts and receiving instruction from Twins hitting coach Joe Vavra, in the batting cages underneath the Giants' home ballpark.

Mauer would pinch hit in the eighth inning of Thursday's game, grounding weakly to first base.

As these ifollosports.com original videos show, Twins fans should at least know that their $184 million man is putting in the necessary work to re-discover his All-Star form.
