Joe Mauer On The Streets Of Detroit (Photo)

Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer, originally a catcher, is considered one of the best hitting catchers in MLB history and was once considered one of the game's best present-day hitters. Mauer, the 2009 AL MVP, is a three-time AL batting champion and three-time Gold Glove winner, who received all of his honors while playing behind the plate. The St. Paul, Minnesota native is easily the most famous Twins player of this generation.

Monday, amid the Twins visit to Detroit for a series against their AL Central rival Tigers, Michigan based correspondent Lance Martinez posed for the above photo with Mauer, after spotting the six-time All-Star in downtown Detroit.

Fans of Mauer can check out several additional behind the scenes stories featuring the left-handed hitter signing autographs and interacting with fans.
