Kung Fu Panda Spotted At Scottsdale Panda Express
San Francisco Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval enters the 2013 baseball season, still basking in the glow of becoming only the fourth player in MLB history (Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson and Albert Pujols) to blast three homeruns in a single World Series game. During Game 1 of last October's “Fall Classic,” versus the Detroit Tigers, Sandoval blasted long balls in his first three at bats of the evening, with the first two coming off of baseball's best pitcher, the great Justin Verlander. Four days later, Sandoval's historic effort was rewarded when he was named World Series MVP.
As the “Kung Fu Panda” begins his preparation for the upcoming season, Sandoval's 5-11, 262 lbs. frame has once again become an area of concern for Giants coaches and management. While Sandoval does not possess the body of a prototypical, present-day baseball player, it's difficult to question the productivity of the big man, considering that in addition to World Series MVP honors, he was also named MVP of the Venezuelan championship series. Sandoval seems more than comfortable with the level of “stature” he brings to the ballpark, each and every day.
In an ironic and rather humorous note, the “Panda” was recently spotted enjoying a meal at the Panda Express fast food restaurant, located in the Palm Court of the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. The famous Arizona shopping complex sits just 1.5 miles north of Scottsdale Stadium, San Francisco's spring training facility.
It's nice to know that since the “Kung Fu Panda” feels so strongly about his nickname, he is inclined to patronize establishments with incredibly similar names. Talk about practicing what you preach.
