Legendary Closer Jeff Reardon Signing (Video)

Jeff Reardon is a former MLB closer, who played for seven teams in 16 seasons. The Massachusetts native's best years took place during the 1980's. In 1985, Reardon captured 41 saves (while playing for the old Montreal Expos), winning the NL Rolaids Relief Man of the Year Award. The 80's also saw the right-hander make three of his four All-Star appearances.

All told, Reardon collected 367 career saves, which currently places him seventh on the all-time list.

Since his retirement from baseball, Reardon has called the state of Florida home. In 2005, the now 57-year-old was placed under arrest after committing armed robbery at a Palm Beach Gardens jewelry store. Reardon claimed that his behavior was the result of the high levels of medication and antidepressants he was taking, after the tragic death of his 20-year-old son. Reardon would later spend time at a psychiatric facility. He was eventually found not guilty, once it was ruled that his actions were 100 percent due to a drug-induced insanity.

Reardon was the closer for the 1987 World Series champion Minnesota Twins, where he threw the very last pitch of the clinching Game 7. This distinction provides him with a rather significant place in Twins history.

Tuesday night, per the above iFolloSports.com original video, Reardon was seen signing autographs at Fan HQ Sports Apparel And Collectables, in the Twin Cities suburb of Minnetonka, Minnesota. Reardon signed for an hour, while also posing for pictures, prior to his well attended appearance.
