Miller Park Offers A Unique Fan Experience (Photos & Video)
When attending a game at Milwaukee's Miller Park, fans can immediately sense how fan friendly everything is.
Upon entering the stadium parking lots, there are so many Brewers fans tailgating, as if it was Lambeau Field. Tailgating has been a long standing tradition for Brewers fans. In fact, it is a more significant part of Brewers culture than that of any other MLB team.
The stadium parking rate is a whopping $25.
Just outside the main entrance, there is a display of Milwaukee baseball history, including a statue of Henry Aaron from his Milwaukee Braves days.
There is also a statue of Robin Yount, as well as banners of current Brewers players. Once inside, an honor roll wall paying tribute to the old Milwaukee Braves organization is present.
The ballpark features several bars including a TGI Friday's Front Row Sports Grill, which faces the field and has an outside patio. The Friday's is open 365 days a year.
Miller Park is also very kid friendly. There are many kids play areas throughout the facility.
The concourses are nice and wide open, with a fine selection of Wisconsin food and beers to choose from. With the exception of the upper deck, fans can see the field from the concourses. There are plenty of bathrooms and concession stands, so lines didn't appear to be too long for either at any point.
The most polarizing aspect of the stadium is the retractable roof. Some people like having it for the early season cool and rainy weather, others hate the roof, because it's not a pure outdoor stadium. From my seats, the roof was a bit of a factor. There is not the same feeling of being in a true open air stadium, as one doesn't feel the cross winds and breezes of being outside. The design of the roof also means that many seats don't have direct exposure to sun light, when the sun is shining brightly. Despite these factors, its still a very comfortable place to watch a game.
One of the most unique aspects of Miller Park is the Klement's Sausage Race, ran in the middle of the sixth inning. Check out this ifollosports.com original video of the action.
Other ballpark features, distinct to Milwaukee, include mascot Bernie Brewer sliding into the Kalahari Splash Zone after a home team homerun and victory. In addition, the stadium speakers play the song “Roll Out the Barrel” immediately after the seventh inning stretch.
All in all, seeing a game at Miller Park is a good fan experience. Tailgating, ample food/drink options and interesting events like the sausage race, make it a fun place to take in some baseball.
