MLB Legend Ivan Rodriguez Preparing For His Hall Of Fame Induction (Photo)
Lance Martinez from My Detroit Sports sends over this photo with soon-to-be Hall of Fame catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez. The shot was gathered prior to a game against the Rangers, at the D Shop inside the home of the Tigers, Comerica Park. Many Tigers and Rangers fans were in attendance at the event.
Rodriguez came up with the Rangers in 1991. He would sit behind home plate in Arlington until 2002, before moving on to the Marlins, where he won his lone world championship, during the 2003 campaign.
Rodriguez’s tenure in Detroit occurred from 2004-2008.
All told, Rodriguez was a 14-time All-Star, 13-time Gold Glove winner and seven-time Silver Slugger honoree. In addition, the native Puerto Rican was named the 1999 American League MVP.
Rodriguez’s stellar 21-season career earned him a first ballot hall of fame selection in January. As a result, the now 45-year-old will be inducted into Cooperstown on July 30, along with Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, John Schuerholz and Bud Selig.
