Winfield played 22 big league seasons, mostly with the Padres and Yankees. The Minnesota native would go on to spend the final six years of his career with quick stints in Anaheim, Toronto, Minnesota and Cleveland.

During Winfield’s lone season with the Blue Jays (1992), he won his first and only World Series title, after belting a two-run go-ahead double, in Game 6 versus the Braves.

Winfield was a 12-time All-Star and 7-time Gold Glove winner, who led the NL in RBI back in 1979.

The University of Minnesota alum holds the distinction of being drafted in the MLB (Padres), NFL (Vikings) and NBA (Hawks). Talk about an all-world athlete!
