La Russa is easily one of the best managers in baseball history.

The Tampa native won 2,728 games, 12 division titles, six pennants and three World Series championships. The 73-year-old’s 2,728 wins are third most in MLB history.

Among La Russa’s many accomplishments includes the fact that he is one of two managers to have won World Series in both leagues, after leading the A’s to the 1989 title and the Cardinals to the 2006 and 2011 crowns.

La Russa was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 2014.

These days, La Russa works as a special assistant to Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski and is frequently seen at spring training games in Florida.
